Mar 17 2008 CFUG rides again! April 3rd Meeting Announcement, with extras!
Hello Cold Fusion User Group Members!
As many of you have noticed, it has been a tumultuous winter in Seattle's CFUG land. Our reins of leadership have been passing from one programmer to another faster than you can code randomized "Holy *****, Batman!" script in Cold Fusion - and that's fast! But fear not. Even as leader after leader has been lured away by work in other climes, our core members remain, and now I am stepping into the leadership role. I have been with this group since it's first meeting and have found it invaluable. I hope to help you find it so as well.
Firstly, let me say that I BELIEVE our website/bulletin board (seattlecfug.com) is working. I say that because it does not always appear so, but a bit of patience and it seems to behave. That said, it is hardly robust: emails can take several hours to go out; new avatars can't be approved; I had to disable the member list because it was getting spammed. Those are the problems I know about. If you find more, post the issues with as much detail as you can in the CF HELP section of this forum.
Secondly, we will continue to hold meetings at 6:30pm on the first Thursday of every month. Please use the Program Suggests section of this forum to post any topics you would like to see presented or that you would be interested in presenting. Topics can be as short as 5 minutes or as long as 90 minutes or in a happy place somewhere inbetween. I will announce the topic(s) one week before each meeting, so please, email me your ideas and interests NOW! :)
Thirdly, one of the best features of our CFUG is the social networking that takes place at each meeting. Well, actually, much of it usually takes place before or after the meeting in a nearby eatery. I would like to formalize that arrangement with an invitation to everyone to meet at the burger/milkshake joint just upstairs from our meeting place at 5:30pm. It is called Blue Moon Burgers and the address is 703 N 34th St (206-547-1907) http://www.bluemoonburgers.com/> - it is informal, fast, yummy and inexpensive, and literally just upstairs from our Adobe meeting place.
Fourthly, we will be looking for volunteers to help update our website. We'll be moving it to a new server, updating or replacing the forum software and if someone really wants to go to town with a blog, normal pages, or anything else, we are open to suggestions!
Ok, that's it for now. I hope to hear back from you and look forward to seeing you on April 3rd, either at the Blue Moon at 5:30 or in the Adobe meeting rooms (signs are always posted) at 6:30.
THANKS!
Maya
