Aug 20 2006 Adobe hosts our CFUG!
The Seattle ColdFusion User's Group
Sponsored by Schooner Technical Media Training: Adobe's Authorized Training Partner in the Pacific Northwest http://www.schoonertech.com
Greetings!
Next Meeting:
Thursday, September 7, 2006 - 6:30 p.m.
New Location:
Adobe Seattle Office, 801 North 34th Street (Freemont) Plaza Building Conference Center Seattle, WA 98103
Topic:
Our host Mike De Laurentis will present a short overview of the Adobe Seattle campus and what programs are based there, and you'll hear a little bit more about other Adobe products which you may have heard about but are not exactly sure what they are. Also we have scheduled our "favorite bugs and gotcha's" for this meeting, so please bring those CFML irritations that really send you looking for the pepto-bismol to the meeting. Perhaps you'll find a way to avoid some of your headaches!
* WE HAVE A NEW HOME
So if you haven't figured it out we are now able to meet at the s****y conference center at the Adobe Freemont campus. This facility is really nice -- has nice chairs, tables, tons of room, any A/V we could ever want. Plus FREE parking! Special thanks to our User Group Manager at Adobe, Ed Sullivan, and frameworks guru Sean Corfield, who has a team in Seattle now, for making the right connections. Also thanks to our onsite hosts Mike De Laurentis and Jenny Cormiae-Foster! Here's a page with tips on how to get there: http://www.seattlecfug.com/AdobeMap.html> - It is super easy.
* CARPOOL TO FREEMONT
If you need a ride from the Downtown area I will be glad to sponsor a carpool for up to 3 people. If you have room in your car for a carpool, be sure to post in the Carpool and transportation sharing forum.
* YOUR INPUT REQUESTED FOR SURVEY
I've created a simple 4-question survey for you to take -- asking basic questions like the day or time for the meeting, topical interests, that sort of stuff. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=928962489232> -- yes, yes, I know it's not a survey built with CFML but SurveyMonkey works great for quick-and-simple stuff. Please take this survey so we can start to program our schedule for next year. Thanks!
* NEW EMAIL/FORUMS FIXES
I've tweaked the forums registration process to actually work now (nobody let me know, so I just assumed it was working -- oh well!) Also I have combined forums registration with the email list. So now there is no separate list -- just register on the website and that will add you to the mail list. This centralizes stuff and will make it much easier to manage. Hopefully all the bugs are worked out. Let me know if you encounter anything strange.
* FIELD TRIP?
I think it's time for a field trip. I was thinking that as a group we should swagger-on down to PDX and join our friends at the PDX CFUG for one of their events. Simeon Bateman does a great job, and he and his group have always been very supportive of ours, having visited a number of times. What say all? Let's take a road trip and show a bit of SEA-town support for our fellow CFUGers in Portland!
* WIN FREE STUFF
Come to the meeting and door prizes and more Adobe goodies will of course be in full force. Enter to win a raffle for a copy of ColdFusion professional. If you bring treats to the meeting you get 5 free tickets. If you bring a new friend to the meeting you get 10 free tix in the raffle! That's right folks: live, fresh new humans are worth 10 free chances to win the server software you love!
All that plus brand-new opportunities for extra-curricular activities after the meeting in our new location, again!
